Washington, DC --- Oct. 24, 2008 --- Women In Government, a nonprofit, bipartisan organization of women state legislators, today announced Mary Brooks Beatty as its new President, effective Nov. 17, 2008. Ms. Beatty comes to Women In Government with an extensive background in state legislatures and government affairs, and has served as Executive Director for a national environmental nonprofit. Ms. Beatty will replace current President, Susan Crosby, as she retires at the end of this year. Connie Lawson (R-Danville) took place at a tribute dinner to Crosby, hosted by Women In Government, a national, bipartisan non-profit organization of women state legislators. The dinner took place during the 15th Annual Midwestern Regional Conference held in Indianapolis.
