The Maryland State Briefing featured an introduction to Women In Government Foundation, Inc. by Eastern Regional Director, Delegate Joseline Peña-Melnyk. A lupus expert, Dr. Arthur Weinstein from the Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown University, discussed the acute and chronic autoimmune disease, lupus. His materials are available here. Following his presentation, Elesha Gayman Shahinllari gave a presentation on the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc. where she is the Senior Director of Government Relations & Public Policy. Her colleague, Penny Fletcher, President & CEO of the MD, DC, and VA chapters of the Lupus Foundation of America, also gave a presentation on Maryland-state-specific issues.
