President & Executive Director Leaving

Women In Government Foundation, Inc (WIG) and Women In Government Coalition for Advocacy and Networking’s (WIG CAN!) President & Executive Director, Marjorie Maginn, has announced that she has decided to leave after almost 3 years leading the organizations. Maginn initially became involved with WIG in 1999 as a corporate sponsor when she saw the benefit of the organizations to women state legislators.  She furthered her engagement with WIG by being selected to serve on WIG’s Business Council and then chaired the Business Council for several years. Maginn’s knowledge of the organizations helped her as she took on the lead position where her experience as an Insurance Commissioner for the State of Indiana and the Regional Vice President of Industry and Political Affairs for WellPoint, Inc helped to revitalize the organizations. She was instrumental in key advances needed in the operational model and she produced very positive results for WIG and WIG CAN! Under her leadership, WIG and WIG CAN! were able to engage with many new state legislative members and states not previously participating, advance current educational opportunities and policy work with state legislative members, and obtain new grant funders and sponsors. Maginn will be leaving full-time employment February 21, 2014, but has pledged her support and assistance with transition to the next leader even after that date.

“Women In Government and Women In Government Coalition for Advocacy and Networking congratulate and thank our President & Executive Director, Marjorie Maginn, for her outstanding leadership these last 3 years.  She performed a critical role with our organizations in advancing the effectiveness of our work with our 1,791 state women legislators,” said Iowa Rep. Helen Miller, WIG Board Chair. “We are so grateful to Marjorie for her professionalism in advancing the mission and goals of our organizations”.
