To lead the way in an ever moving public policy dialogue, Women In Government (WIG) has branded the year of 2015 the Year of Innovation. In honoring this theme, WIG is dedicated to collaborating with new partners, expanding its areas of quality research, and pioneering new ways to present data to conference attendees. The 21st Annual State Directors’ & 11th Biennial First Term Legislators’ Conferences ushered in a new year full of fun and informative activities.
Women In Government (WIG) celebrates the launch of its updated Economic Stability and Opportunities (ESO) toolkit by urging state and federal lawmakers to enact politices that help address the barriers to income stability and prosperity. The toolkit provides fact sheets, multimedia, state-by-state tailored constituent letters, past and present legislation, ways to increase awareness, townhall and social media how-to, and many more helpful resources.
Women In Government was pleased to host the Fifth Annual Healthcare Summit, held November 13-15, 2014, in Washington, DC. This comprehensive three-day event covered a wide range of issues including women’s health, diabetes, childhood obesity, healthcare reform, chronic disease prevention and management, health IT, and recent innovations in healthcare. The panels included nationally known expert speakers discussing the issues with an emphasis on what state policymakers can do to improve the lives of their constituents. We had a total of 48 state legislators from across the country attend.
