Recent Events

Fatal allergic reactions continue to be an unfortunate circumstance of a lack of availabilty of important preventative materials. At Women In Government's 17th Annual State Director's Conference & Ninth Biennial First-Term Legislators Conference, speakers discussed this issue, and what legislators can do. The panelists presented an overview of the medical need for emergency medical treatment for allergic reactions. Representative Anna Fairlough from the Alaska State Legilature spoke on the Alaskan model legislation that makes available life saving medications and training programs on the use of such medications. Nancy Sander, President and Founder of the Allergy & Asthma Network Mothers of Asthmatics spoke about her experience with this issue, and her presentation is available here.
