In 2004, Women In Government launched the Challenge to Eliminate Cervical Cancer Campaign. This bipartisan initiative mobilizes state legislators to address cervical cancer prevention in their states. Since then, all 50 states and D.C. have introduced and enacted resolutions or bills pertaining to HPV and cervical cancer.
Throughout the Campaign, WIG has focused on five policy initiatives: screening requirements, task forces, vaccine access, vaccine education, and other related legislation. The following table illustrate the states' progress in the fight against cervical cancer:
