H.R. 307 Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act Reauthorization of 2013  - The measures include authorization of important funding for advanced development of medical countermeasures for the Strategic National Stockpile, such as vaccines and medications against anthrax, smallpox, and botulism.  The bill also reauthorizes public health preparedness programs and strengthens the FDA’s role in reviewing and approving medical countermeasures.  (March 13: Signed by President Obama and Became Public Law No: 113-5)

North Carolina S.B. 202  Appropriates funds for public health programs based on a formula that takes into consideration the body mass index of public school students, in addition to other factors such as population (including percent of minorities), per capita income, rates of infant mortality, teenage pregnancy, tobacco use, cancer, heart disease, diabetes and stroke. Alabama S.J.R. 11 Urges the state department of education and the Alabama Department of Public Health to encourage all schools to participate in a school-based voluntary influenza vaccination program. (Passed)
